An external audit is required to maintain your COR certification and this person cannot be an employee of the company they are auditing. The external auditor must be trained and certified and the training is more extensive than the internal auditor training.
Trading/Partnering Safety Auditors: Partnering companies will exchange auditor services with one another. A trained auditor from company #1 will audit company #2 and the trained auditor from company #2 will audit company #1. These companies trade services instead of each hiring an external auditor.
